Cross Border Business Networking
The Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses (GFSB) will host its first Cross-Border Business Networking Event on Tuesday 17 March 2026, bringing together businesses from Gibraltar and neighbouring La Línea de la Concepción. The members-only event is supported by World Trade Center Gibraltar and Saccone & Speed and aims to strengthen commercial relationships as the border environment evolves and the UK–EU Gibraltar Treaty arrangements approach implementation.
This members-only event aims to foster stronger collaboration and commercial relationships between businesses in Gibraltar and neighbouring La Línea de la Concepción, particularly in light of the opening of the border and the forthcoming implementation of the UK–EU Gibraltar Brexit Treaty arrangements.
As businesses on both sides of the border look toward a new phase of economic cooperation, the GFSB believes the event will provide an opportunity for small and medium sized enterprises to connect, exchange ideas and explore new opportunities to strengthen cross-border business ties.
GFSB Business Manager Kim Chang commented:
“This event marks an important step in strengthening the relationship between businesses in Gibraltar and La Línea. With the border dynamics evolving and new arrangements on the horizon, it is more important than ever for businesses on both sides of the border to connect, collaborate and explore new opportunities together. The GFSB thought it important to create a platform that encourages partnerships and mutual growth between our two business communities.”
The initiative forms part of a new cross-border networking series that the GFSB plans to host regularly. Following this inaugural gathering in Gibraltar, the next event is expected to take place in La Línea, continuing efforts to build stronger relationships between the two business communities.

Freight Delays Bite
Imports including medicines, fresh produce and other commercial goods faced significant delays as businesses and Customs adjusted to the Treaty’s new frontier procedures, with some freight reportedly held since the arrangements began on 15 July. The disruption is the clearest early warning that documentation errors and unfamiliar processes can quickly affect stock availability, perishable goods and operating costs across Gibraltar’s retail and wholesale sectors.

Through the Thrive EDIT, I've tried to cut through the politics and focus on what really matters to Gibraltar's business community. We've unpacked customs guidance, explained residency proposals, questioned support measures, covered Government announcements, highlighted members' concerns and, where necessary, asked awkward questions on your behalf. The aim has always been the same: to make one of the biggest economic changes in Gibraltar's history feel just a little easier to understand.
