Gibraltar’s Enterprise Scheme just got a major update. Minister for Business Gemma Arias-Vasquez has confirmed that applications will now be accepted all year round. According to a Government press release, it’s a big shift aimed at giving small business owners more flexibility when seeking funding.
Why it matters:
This soft loan scheme supports start-ups and small businesses under three years old with loans of £10,000 to £25,000, backed by the Government and provided through Trusted Novus Bank and Gibraltar International Bank.
Key changes:
- Year-round applications – no more fixed windows
- Online portal now live – easier access via oft.gov.gi/enterprise-scheme
- Clear assessment criteria – published scoring framework boosts transparency
- Support panel – includes reps from the Chamber of Commerce and GFSB

Minister Arias-Vasquez said:
“Moving to a year-round application window is a significant step forward. It gives businesses the freedom to apply when the time is right for them.”
She also noted that the new digital application process should improve the quality of submissions and help entrepreneurs better articulate their ideas.

Freight Delays Bite
Imports including medicines, fresh produce and other commercial goods faced significant delays as businesses and Customs adjusted to the Treaty’s new frontier procedures, with some freight reportedly held since the arrangements began on 15 July.
