GFSB Launches New Youth Membership

Gibraltar, 17 May – The Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses (GFSB) has announced a new programme designed to help young entrepreneurs in Gibraltar. They are now offering memberships to people aged 21 and under, providing them with support and resources to succeed in local business.

In the past, young entrepreneurs have struggled to access important business networks and support. Recognising the talent and potential of Gibraltar’s youth, the GFSB has created a special membership programme just for them. Priced at just £30 per year, this membership is much more accessible than the regular rate. This lower price is meant to make it easier for young entrepreneurs to join the GFSB’s extensive network and benefits, which include free training courses and advice on how to setup and run a business.

Owen Smith, the Chairperson of the GFSB, expressed his excitement about the programme and the organisation’s dedication to supporting entrepreneurship in the community. “At the GFSB, we are committed to creating a supportive environment for business growth,” said Mr. Smith. “With our focused support, networking opportunities, and tailored resources, we aim to help young business owners overcome challenges and achieve lasting success.”

Young Enterprise Gibraltar’s Carlos Garcia added, “As Chairman of Young Enterprise, I see the difficulty young people face when wanting to continue a business after having participated in our programmes. They find challenges such as licensing and premises. Having the GFSB supporting them for a reduced membership fee is a fantastic initiative and I would suggest that anybody under the age of 21 starting up a business or wanting to do a business or has a business consider signing up.”

Update 9th September 2024 – According to new regulations, business license fees imposed by the Office of Fair Trading may be waived if the OFT determines that the beneficial owner holding a significant or controlling interest in the applicant business is an individual or individuals aged 21 or younger.
