Window Warriors Wanted

Window Warriors Wanted

The GFSB and OTWO magazine have teamed up to launch a special Shop Window Competition to mark World Environment Day 2025. This year’s theme is “Beat Plastic Pollution,” and local businesses are invited to show their creative side (and their green credentials) by designing eye-catching, eco-friendly window displays.

How to enter

It’s simple:

  1. Register your interest via this short form: https://form.jotform.com/250922136941354
  2. Create a display inspired by the “Beat Plastic Pollution” theme using sustainable, reusable or recycled materials.
  3. Snap a photo and send it to otwomagazine@gmail.com by Friday 23rd May.

Judging takes place from 26–30 May, with the winner announced at the Eco Festival on 1st June at Europa Pool.

What’s in it for you?

  • A full-page advert for three months in OTWO magazine
  • A half-page ad in Thrive Magazine
  • 12-month GFSB membership
  • Editorial feature in Thrive and the Thrive Edit newsletter
  • A trophy and media coverage

Runners-up will also receive public recognition at the Eco Festival and on social media.

Need ideas?

  • Go plastic-free with fabric, paper, or wood
  • Repurpose bottle caps, newspapers or cartons for a recycled art scene
  • Show before/after views of plastic waste vs sustainable alternatives
  • Use ocean or forest themes to highlight the damage caused by plastic
  • Add greenery, plants or natural textures for an eco-inspired look

Why it matters

This is your chance to champion sustainability while showcasing your creativity—and your business—to the wider community. Entries close on Friday 23rd May, so it’s time to get planning.

Before we take a short summer break, Editor David Revagliatte looks back at the stories that shaped the year and thanks readers for joining us on the journey.

Could Gibraltar be missing a golden opportunity? GFSB Board Director Brian Ross believes the answer is yes. In this thought-provoking opinion piece, he argues that Gibraltar should consider a residency route for financially self-sufficient individuals, attracting experienced people with the wealth, expertise and international networks to strengthen our economy. Could this be the next step in keeping Gibraltar competitive?

For many SMEs, the success of the business has been built on the expertise, relationships and commitment of its owner. This entrepreneurial approach has been instrumental in the growth of many of Gibraltar's successful businesses. However, as organisations develop, dependence on a single individual can become a strategic risk.
