Managing Menopause

This week’s GFSB Wellness Series event on peri/menopause at work brought together Gibraltar’s business community to discuss support strategies for women experiencing this transition. UK data shows that 1 in 10 women leave work due to menopause symptoms, and while no local figures are available, the situation reflects similar challenges in Gibraltar.

Why does this matter?

With 3.5 million women over 50 in the UK workforce, addressing menopause in the workplace is crucial for retention and wellbeing (source: CIPD). These insights help Gibraltar’s businesses create more inclusive environments.

Who were the experts?

We especially thank the expert speakers for sharing their time and deep knowledge of peri/menopause with us.

Dr. Reena Verdi: Managing peri/menopause

Suzi Wine: Physical strength during peri/menopause

MJ Feeke: Nutrition and lifestyle support

Thanks too to Wellness Series sponsors, Infinity Group and Freska, for the lovely lunch. We are busy working on the next event in the series – keep your eyes on our socials and save the 21st November in your calendar.

Could Gibraltar be missing a golden opportunity? GFSB Board Director Brian Ross believes the answer is yes. In this thought-provoking opinion piece, he argues that Gibraltar should consider a residency route for financially self-sufficient individuals, attracting experienced people with the wealth, expertise and international networks to strengthen our economy. Could this be the next step in keeping Gibraltar competitive?

For many SMEs, the success of the business has been built on the expertise, relationships and commitment of its owner. This entrepreneurial approach has been instrumental in the growth of many of Gibraltar's successful businesses. However, as organisations develop, dependence on a single individual can become a strategic risk.
