Celebrating Sustainability Success
We were proud to host and sponsor this year’s Gibraltar Sustainable Awards in collaboration with The Nautilus Project at the Gibtelecom Conference Hall. The annual event, now in its seventh year, continues to recognise local businesses, organisations, and individuals that are leading the way in sustainability and environmental stewardship across Gibraltar.
This year’s theme, Prairies of the Sea, highlighted the importance of protecting Gibraltar’s marine ecosystems and celebrated those taking meaningful action to reduce their carbon and plastic footprint. The awards showcased a wide range of initiatives, from corporate sustainability programmes to grassroots conservation projects.
GFSB Board member Ron Wagemakers was in attendance and during his welcome, said. “The GFSB is proud to support this initiative which places a spotlight on the great work being carried out to protect Gibraltar’s environment. This year’s finalists raised the bar yet again!”

Congratulations to everybody involved! The evening once again demonstrated the community’s growing commitment to sustainability. From large organisations to small community groups, each finalist played a role in promoting environmental awareness and, crucially, takling actions that inspire positive change.
The GFSB is proud to support this initiative, which aligns with its mission to help businesses thrive responsibly and contribute to a greener, healthier Gibraltar.
Planning for the 8th edition of the Gibraltar Sustainable Awards is already underway, continuing the drive towards a more sustainable future for all.

Freight Delays Bite
Imports including medicines, fresh produce and other commercial goods faced significant delays as businesses and Customs adjusted to the Treaty’s new frontier procedures, with some freight reportedly held since the arrangements began on 15 July. The disruption is the clearest early warning that documentation errors and unfamiliar processes can quickly affect stock availability, perishable goods and operating costs across Gibraltar’s retail and wholesale sectors.

What a Week!
Over the past two years, I must have written more words about the Treaty than almost any other subject. Through the Thrive EDIT, I've tried to cut through the politics and focus on what really matters to Gibraltar's business community. We've unpacked customs guidance, explained residency proposals, questioned support measures, covered Government announcements, highlighted members' concerns and, where necessary, asked awkward questions on your behalf. The aim has always been the same: to make one of the biggest economic changes in Gibraltar's history feel just a little easier to understand.
