Neurodiversity in Focus
This week’s GFSB Health & Wellbeing session explored neurodiversity in the workplace, bringing practical advice and lived experience into sharp focus. Held at the Gibtelecom Conference Hall and supported by Infinity Group, the event featured presentations from Claire Francis and Nicole Buckley, who encouraged businesses to think differently about difference.
Claire Francis, founder of edYOUcation and a qualified Workplace Needs Assessor, opened the event with insights into how employers can support neurodivergent staff through small but meaningful adjustments. Drawing on her background in teaching and special educational needs, Claire explained how inclusive recruitment and workplace practices can improve retention, performance and wellbeing. Nicole Buckley, CEO and co-founder of PossAbilities, followed with a personal and educational talk about what neurodivergence can look like, feel like, and require from those around us. She covered key concepts like masking and the “neurodivergent umbrella” and explained how awareness and understanding lead to better working environments for everyone.
The final speaker was Manar Ben Tahayekt, a writer and communicator with a background in journalism and client communications. Manar shared her lived experience and spoke candidly about challenging ableism, navigating systems that aren’t always inclusive, and the importance of accessible storytelling. Her reflections underscored the need to reframe conversations about disability and difference.
The session made it clear: being neuroinclusive isn’t just ethical, it makes business sense. Employers who embrace difference, adjust their processes and invest in inclusive leadership stand to benefit from a more engaged and creative workforce.

Freight Delays Bite
Imports including medicines, fresh produce and other commercial goods faced significant delays as businesses and Customs adjusted to the Treaty’s new frontier procedures, with some freight reportedly held since the arrangements began on 15 July. The disruption is the clearest early warning that documentation errors and unfamiliar processes can quickly affect stock availability, perishable goods and operating costs across Gibraltar’s retail and wholesale sectors.

Through the Thrive EDIT, I've tried to cut through the politics and focus on what really matters to Gibraltar's business community.
