Dear Members,
Happy New Year! I hope you had a relaxing Christmas vacation period, and that you’ve had a great start to 2025. As we step into this new year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the achievements of 2024 and share what lies ahead for the GFSB.
Last year was a truly remarkable one for the GFSB. We relaunched our brand, website, and magazine Thrive, introduced a weekly newsletter, and organised more events and training sessions than ever before. We also welcomed Phoebe Kelly to our team as Business Manager and celebrated our most successful annual dinner in recent history. In addition, we proudly launched our first series of health and well-being events and unveiled the new Women in Enterprise (WIE) series, which has been warmly received by our members.
Looking ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be even more exciting. We are finalising key partnerships that are set to significantly enhance the GFSB’s annual income, enabling us to do even more for our members. By March, we’ll be opening our newly refurbished premises—a fresh and modern space to support our initiatives and serve as a business community hub for members.
We are also expanding our training and education offerings through strategic partnerships with Gibraltar based foundation. I am particularly excited to launch a dedicated Self-Employed Group, which will focus on the specific needs of Gibraltar’s self-employed entrepreneurial community.
Behind the scenes, we’re continuing to refine our systems and policies to ensure we provide the best possible service to you. Lookout for website changes and content soon. If you have not yet checked out our community spaces, and networking tools on GlueUp – January couldn’t be a better month.
Member engagement and support are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are building the GFSB into Gibraltar’s leading business organisation—a place where small businesses can start, grow and thrive.
Thank you for being a vital part of the GFSB community. I look forward to working together to make 2025 a year of success, growth, and opportunity for us all.
Wishing you a prosperous and fulfilling 2025,
Owen
Governments and geopolitical strategists use simulations to test what might happen when other players react. The same thinking can help businesses challenge assumptions, anticipate competitors and prepare for decisions before real money is on the line.
From Hong Kong to Abu Dhabi, Gibraltar is pursuing new industries and investors as part of a major economic diversification drive. Minister Nigel Feetham says the campaign is already generating business. The bigger question is how far those opportunities can spread through Gibraltar’s wider economy.
Gibraltar plans a new residency route for financially independent over-55s alongside a new business think tank announced at GibLink London.
New frontier lanes and discussions around a cross-border transport interchange raise questions about buses, workers, visitors and business connectivity.
Could a future UK-EU food agreement make it easier for British produce to return to Gibraltar shelves? British produce has long been part of Gibraltar’s shopping experience; I wrote about it a couple of years ago, before we had a Treaty in place. From supermarket staples and fresh food to familiar household brands, we’ve spent […]
