Can you provide an overview of your professional background including key positions?
I first qualified as a physiotherapist at The University of Nottingham in 2005, after which I established my own physiotherapy clinic and developed my practice working with elite athletes. I went on to study Medicine at the University of Southampton and followed this with postgraduate training in surgery and general practice. I am a Member of both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of General Practitioners and have a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology with Distinction from Queen Mary University in London. I have now got my Diploma in Occupational Medicine from the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.
What are some of your personal interests or hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work I have a keen interest in sport. I particularly enjoy endurance events. This stems from my background as a doctor and my interest in the human body and what it is capable of. I compete in ultra running events. Through this I get to pursue another interest of mine which is travel.
Who are some individuals that have inspired you in your career, and why?
My biggest inspiration is my father. As he instilled in me a work and life ethic that I live by. That is: Work Hard and Be Kind.
What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced in your career, and what lessons have you learned from them?
My biggest challenge has been starting and running a successful Occupational Health business. Successes when running a business are hard earned, and lessons are hard learned. For me my biggest lesson was learning to trust in my staff. Learning to not micromanage and allowing myself and my employees to be creative. This is essential to the success of a business.
